2026 New Ulm Spikin’ in the Street – Sand Volleyball Tournament
Get ready to dig, spike, and dive at the 4th Annual New Ulm Spikin’ in the Street Sand Volleyball Tournament – right in the heart of our historic downtown! On July 31-August 1, 2026, the streets of New Ulm will be transformed into a thrilling beach volleyball arena, where teams from all over the region will compete for glory and bragging rights (and cash pay-outs). This action-packed event has become a summer highlight, bringing together athletes, sports enthusiasts, and community members of all ages. The first year of this event was held in one block (4 courts), but due to high demand – we expanded this to 2 blocks and 8 courts in the second and third years! We’re following that same plan again this year and bringing in 1300 TONS of sand (about 70 dump trucks!) to transform the streets.
Registration is not yet open but will likely be available in April or May. Deadline will be July 1st or when the list is full.
Looking for another way to get involved with the event? Volunteers are needed for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! From sand assistance and event cleanliness to bouncy house observation and team registration tables, there are options! Stay tuned for the volunteer sign up!

Friday, July 31st – Pre-Party! Come and hang out in the sand!
Food trucks (see list below), music, beverages, sand and fun for the whole family!! Join us Friday evening from 5pm-11pm.
Saturday, Aug 1st – Spikin’ in the Street Downtown Sand Volleyball
Teams interested in playing – see above for the registration link! Deadline for registration is July 1st (number of teams allowed to register will be limited to 88!). Games will begin at 7am and end around 10:30 or 11pm.
Schedules will be available in mid- to late-July
**Please make sure you have the correct division schedule as there are multiple teams with the same name across divisions and it will be confusing.**
Please join us! Spectators welcome! Don’t forget to bring your lawn chair! No coolers allowed (food and beverage available for purchase on site).

Food Trucks! There are several restaurants, cafes, and dining options within blocks of the tournament. Stop in for a break or to grab some quick to-go food. In addition, there will food vendors in the street.
