Jacob Everear

Minnesota Troll Adventure

Experience the fairytale created by Thomas Dambo and team of 500 people from around the world.  This story begins in Detroit Lakes. Dambo has created 130+ Trolls in 20 countries including 9 total exhibits in the area of Detroit Lakes, MN.

Mom and Long Lief

Our fairytale in Minnesota includes encouragement to get into nature, a message that we can make use of what may have been wasted, an opportunity to appreciate nature, Alexa reaching through portals, and more.

How do you hide a 36 foot troll? On Detroit Mountain of course. The nature is amazing, and each troll is hidden in a place that is a reasonable drive from the other exhibits and a reasonable walk. Long Leif is the tallest of the trolls and we go through the woods up and down hills to see him. You are encouraged to hug the trolls, but not to climb on them.

Mom and Jacob Everear

You pass a covered bridge and a stream to get to Jacob Everear who listened to so many troll stories that his ears kept growing. He is laying down and his hands form a bench. He has heard enough troll stories and wants to hear human stories.

Ronny Funny Face, Jason, and Hudley

Ronny Funny Face is a short walk on a fairly flat paved trail. We walked the wrong direction and came across beautiful flowing water. There is an easy way to walk around to see him.

We did not get to see Barefoot Frida on my first visit. There is a book that tells more. You find all 5 trolls and there are clues to find the Golden Rabbit who is the villain of the story.

Visiting the trolls was an inspiring experience. Not only are the trolls impressive works of art, they are placed in incredible places surrounded by beautiful nature and are part of a fun and creative story. Get some exercise, view some art, and experience nature.

I look forward to visiting the trolls again and seeing all 9 exhibits. I want to experience the hikes in all four seasons.

This is a fun, healthy, thoughtful, creative, interesting adventure in nature, and all the exhibits are free. It is inspiring.
